Beaches and Coastline

The beach in the quite sandy cove of Coral Bay is one of the most popular in the Paphos Area and for good reason, the facilities there are good with a small bar /restaurant run by the local council. The sand and water are excellent quality and the shallow water makes this beach perfect for families with small children. On the westerly cliffs adjacent to the beach the locally renowned "blue clay" can be seen being applied to the skin, left to dry and then washed off in the clear water, turning a day on the beach into a beauty spa.
Moving north along the coast we come to Lara Bay on the Akamas peninsula. The home to many nesting green turtles it is a true wilderness and remains completely unspoilt. The beach is mostly pebbles and rough sand and as such the water is very clear. No beach bars or changing facilities, so make sure to take everything you need. At the other end of the Akamas lies the beach of the Polis/Latchi area in the area of Chrysochous Bay. The long beaches of this area are scattered from the westerly tip of the Akamas peninsula all the way to Pomos on the other side of the bay, in between the two the long quiet beach of Argaka is a standout in the whole island.

The east coast area has some of the best pure sand beaches on the entire island. The resort town of Aya Napa and home of the famous Nisi beach are widely frequented in the summer months by holidaying clubbers. The Harbor beach just down the road is one of the longest on the Island and caters more for families. As with Limassol, Larnaca boasts a long beach next to the main beach road, other beaches of note in the Larnaca area are McKenzie beach, which is located very close to Larnaca International Airport and is well know with locals for the quality fish taverns and Dhekelia Beach, the longest in the area , where most of Larnaca's large 4 and 5 star Hotels reside.
