Sea Caves Shipwreck becomes tourist attraction.

Date: 11/01/12

Edro III, the Sierra Leone flagged cargo ship, that run aground in the Sea Caves area of Paphos on the 7th of December has become an unlikely tourist attraction.

The Albanian owned ship run into mechanical problems during high seas and was pushed onto the rocks with the crew of 11 still on board.

The crew were airlifted safely by a helicopter from the British Sovereign Bases and there were no injuries. The Edro III was sailing from Limassol to Crete where it was expected to receive a cargo of Gypsum plaster board.

The Sea Caves area is an area of outstanding natural beauty and it is reported that there has been no damage to the environment. While the future of the wreck remains uncertain, it has become a magnet for the locals and tourists alike who seem to be happy to view the ship at close quarters (beverages provided by enterprising ice cream van!).
