Cyprus Airways had been wound up by the Cypriot government back in 2014 after it was found to have received tens of millions of euro in illegal state aid that it could not pay back.

Charlie Airlines which is co-owned by the Russian S7 group purchased the trademark for the airline for the initial 10-year period. The new owner has rightly decided to dispense with the flying mouflon on the tail fin and go for a new look. 

It’s unknown if the airline’s hostess will be “Charlies Angels”, but it’s another boost for the already high flying Cyprus tourist industry.
